Platform Engineer

Remote-first role with occasional on-site visits to Kerry

A technology-led organisation in the financial services space is hiring a Platform Engineer to help design and build a greenfield cloud platform from the ground up. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating scalable, self-service infrastructure rather than maintaining legacy systems.

You’ll be part of a platform team responsible for building cloud-native infrastructure that enables product engineering teams to move fast without infrastructure becoming a bottleneck.

The Role

• Build and operate greenfield cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code

• Design and run production Kubernetes platforms (GKE / AKS)

• Create fully automated, self-service environments using Terraform and GitOps

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure in GCP and Azure using Terraform (modules, not just consumption)

• Operate and evolve Kubernetes clusters using Helm, Kustomize, and ArgoCD

• Implement GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications

• Build observability using Prometheus and Grafana

• Automate everything using Bash and Python/Go/Ruby

• Design secure cloud networking (VPCs, VPNs, peering, network policies)

• Implement IAM/RBAC and authentication (OIDC, SAML, LDAP)

• Contribute to documentation, on-call rotation, and internal platform tooling

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production

• Deep experience with Terraform (writing and maintaining reusable modules)

• Production experience in GCP and/or Azure

• Solid understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar modern pipeline tooling

• Comfortable working in regulated or security-conscious environments

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services or regulated industries

• Kubernetes (CKA), cloud certifications (GCP / Azure)

• Secrets management tools (Vault, cloud-native secret managers)

• GitOps-first operating models
